The National Centre for Research (NCR) was established in 1991 to replace the former National Council for Research established in 1970. NCR was established as a fully fledged multidisciplinary institution mandated to conduct scientific applied research for development in specialized areas not adequately covered by other research organizations e.g. medicinal and aromatic plants, remote sensing, biotechnology..etc. NCR was under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. When the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) operated in 2001 NCR was incorporated with other bodies under MOST.
NCR Act
In accordance with provisions of the third constitution 1989, the National Salvation Council made the provisional order and cited the National Centre for Research Act 1991.
It cancelled the National Council for Research article 1977, but still its provisions continue to perform their duties and power under Act 1991 until they are altered or reconstituted.
Act 1991 provides also Title and commencement, establishment, duties, powers and general provision.
